Life-Giving Words

“...so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”  –Isaiah 55:11

Dig deeper into this scripture through a few minutes of visio divina:

  • First, spend a minute or two looking at the whole image, the shapes, the colors. What stands out to you?

  • Meditate on the part of the picture that’s drawn your attention. What do you think God’s saying to you? Do you sense an invitation?

  • What is your response to Jesus?

Questions for Reflection:

  • What’s a word God has spoken to you that resulted in joy?

  • Ask God to bring to mind someone whose words have been life-giving to you (perhaps in a difficult season). Thank God for using them to encourage you.

  • What does it mean to be in partnership with the God whose words never return empty?
